The Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom star is going to headline Harmony Korine’s follow-up to Spring Breakers, a set-against-the-Miami-music-scene story about a gangster rapper who gets caught in the crosshairs of a former BFF (to be played by Benicio Del Toro) who took the fall for a robbery they committed many, many years ago.
Jamie Foxx was supposed to have the role that Elba is taking. Al Pacino is (still) on board), and James Franco and Robert Pattinson also have signed on for roles.
Does this mean they will be shooting in the Magic City? ’Cause I know they’ll love that over there.
