The actress – and Pitch Perfect 2 director – is going to play Billie Jean King on this untitled project that HBO has commissioned.
Written by David Auburn (Proof), the Tom Hanks-produced telefilm will chronicle the zeitgeist-catching 1973 Battle of the Sexes between the then-29-year-old No. 2-ranked female ace and the 55-year-old retired former Wimbledon champ Bobby Riggs, whom Paul Giamatti will portray.
