Well...kind of.
The BBC – which produces the PBS hit – has confirmed that that most classic of modern-day American movie stars will be appearing in a sketch scene for Text Santa, an ITV Christmas charity fundraiser, that will be set in Highclere Castle, which provides the main location for the show.
So do not get too excited: Clooney will not be romancing either Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery) or the Dowager Countess (Maggie Smith) next season.
