Represent

Ricky Martin and Kristin Chenoweth are set to receive special honors at this year’s GLAAD Media Awards, in recognition of their efforts to promote equal rights and understanding of the LGBT community.

Martin will receive the Vito Russo Award at the organization’s New York ceremony on March 19, while the Cheno will be honored with the Vanguard Award at the L.A. event on April 10.

“Ricky coming out was a game changer for many gay and transgender Latino children, who for too long, did not have many out gay people to look up to,” said Jarrett Barrios, the president of GLAAD. “And when allies like Kristin take powerful stands against anti-gay sentiments in the media, it sends an important message of equality.

“It is a privilege to honor such a talented and conscientious advocate for fairness towards the LGBT community.”

Hear, hear.
