Dropped Like a Hot, Controversial Potato

Whoever had $5 riding on sweet ol Paula Deen coming undone in a maelstrom of allegations of racism and whatnot, congratulations – you are five bucks richer.

Go get yourself a stick of butter.

Now, some of y’all might have been following the scandal surrounding America’s Queen of Comfort Food and how she’s been defending herself – or not – for having used racial slurs in the past, something she has owned up to in a legal deposition pertaining to a lawsuit brought on by a former employee or som’in.

So y’all might also like to know now that Deen’s time as a Food Network personality is up.

Stick a fork in her – she’s done. The network will not be in the Deen business past the end of her contract at the end of this month.

So.... Who wants to bet on how long her comeback will take.

Update 1: Shortly after getting canned, Deen issued a statement thanking the Food Network for the opportunity to have been a part of the family for more than a decade.

That’s America for ya: build ’em up, knock ’em down (as hard as possible), then give it back to ’em. Just you see.

Update 2: Know what else is on the chopping block? Deen’s deal with QVC. Evidently, it is under review.

Update 3: No more ham for Deen!

Pork company Smithfield has cut ties with the now-super-controversial personality.

On a funny, related note: Her head can now breathe easy.

Update 4: The Caesars Entertainment Coporation, a restaurant-business partner, and Walmart, a retail partner, also have retired from the Deen game.

Update 5: They’re dropping like flies! Target’s out of Deen’s yard, too. So are Sears and Kmart.

Update 6: Her upcoming book is killin it on Amazon, though.
