A Red-hot Girl for a Red-hot Show

Word had it Glee
’s Lea Michele wouldn’t be playing Fanny Brice in the upcoming Broadway revival of Funny Girl (a role for which she basically auditioned at the Tonys a couple of years go), after all, and word was right.

Instead, Emmy Award nominee Lauren Ambrose (HBOs Six Feet Under) will play the character first made famous by Barbra Streisand, beginning on Jan. 15 in Los Angeles before the show hits the Great White Way next spring.

“Let’s face it, there is obviously more than a lot to live up playing Fanny Brice, but I am humbled and thrilled by the opportunity to be a part of this revival,” the redheaded actress said after her casting. “The character is complex, the music is beautiful and challenging. I wish we could start tomorrow!

Oh, girl, just enjoy this moment because pretty soon you are going to be scrutinized like it is going out of style.

Break a leg, though.
