They Wanted to Be Lawmakers, Not Lawbreakers

There Meryl Streep goes this year (again), showing off her versatility.

The three-time Academy Award winner is no only going to play a rocker in Ricki and the Flash later this summer, she’s set to appear opposite Carey Mulligan in this fall’s Suffragette.

Mulligan – currently headlining Far From the Madding Crowd – stars in the turn-of-the-20th-century period piece as Maud, a working mother-turned-early feminist foot soldier. La Streep portrays political activist Emmeline Pankhurst, the militant women’s rights leader.

So that should give you an idea about what this one’s all about (#VotingMatters, yo).

Suffragette is due out in theaters on Oct. 23. Check out the films trailer now.
