Yes, the Impossible star – a 19-year-old British import – reportedly has beat out the likes of Asa Butterfield in the race for the part and will play Peter Parker and his webslinging alter ego in upcoming Marvel-produced blockbusters moving forward (now that Sony has agreed to share), beginning with next year’s Captain America: Civil War, as well as Sony’s second reboot in 2017.
Indie helmer Jon Watts will oversee the new Spider-Man movie, which is scheduled for three July 18s from now.
Holland will be first seen later this year in Chris Hemsworth’s In the Heart of the Sea, though.
