The People’s Choice Awards will be handed out on Wednesday...and the Golden Globes will follow suit on Sunday....
And, of course, nominations for the big one – the Academy Awards (duh) – are not far behind.
All the major guilds also are announcing their nominees for the best of 2014, including the Art Directors Guild, which has singled out the likes of Birdman and The Imitation Game and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, among others, for kudos. In different categories, natch.
Meanwhile, the Producers Guild of America announced today that American Sniper, Birdman, Boyhood, Foxcatcher, Gone Girl, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Imitation Game, Nightcrawler, The Theory of Everything, and Whiplash make up the class of 2014 and are now officially competing for top honors at the Jan. 24 PGA Awards.
Hey, half that list looks familiar!
(Question: What of Jean-Luc Godard’s 3-D offering, Goodbye to Language, which a couple of days ago was named the best film of last year by the National Society of Film Critics?)
