Alexis Bledel has signed on to replace Carey Mulligan in the indie drama Violet & Daisy, playing a teenage assassin.

The movie, which will co-star Saoirse Ronan (The Lovely Bones) and James Gandolfini, is said to be very Thelma & Louise-meets-Superbad-meets-Pulp Fiction, and will mark the directorial debut of Oscar-winning screenwriter Geoffrey Fletcher (Precious).

Talk about playing against wholesome type, gal pal!
