The Danish Girl star has signed on to co-headline Submergence with the man who is young Professor X for director Wim Wenders.
A romantic thriller based on an eponymous book by J.M. Ledgard, Submergence will feature Vikander as a deep sea explorer who uses the memories of this intense relationship she had with this guy – who is being held hostage by jihadist fighters in Somalia – to get through a current life-threatening situation (he does the same).
Production is set to get underway in the spring, in Europe and Africa.
