A Pirate By Another Name?

Javier Bardem may not have gotten to play Blackbeard in the forthcoming Pan (the role ended up going to Hugh Jackman), but that don’t mean the Oscar winner has given up on playing a pirate on the big screen.

No, no, señor.... He still just might.

Bardem is, evidently, circling the role of the villain in the fifthquel Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. He would play a ghost pirate who has a boner for Johnny Depp’s Capt. Jack Sparrow, whom he blames for the death of his brother.

Depp, of course, will be back for another adventure, as will Geoffrey Rush and, maybe, Orlando Bloom.

Perhaps, then, Penélope Cruz will be back for another go, too, and she and Bardem can make it a family affair on set, no?
