That’s The Place Beyond the Pines, a.k.a. the one for which director Derek Cianfrance reunited with his Blue Valentine star, Ryan Gosling.
It is also the one in which the Gos shares the screen with Bradley Cooper, and the one where he met gf Eva Mendes (but I’ll just pretend that never happened and that he’s still available and questioning).
I understand it’s best not to know much about the films plot as we prepare for its arrival, but, this is me – I gotta say som’in’.
Gosling plays Luke, a heavily tatted, bleached blond motorcycle stunt-rider who turns to a life of crime. Cooper is a cop hot on his heels, while Mendes portrays the mother of the infant son Luke didn’t know he had.
Some folks absolutely have loved the film’s performances; others say they saw right through its indie-esque pretenses.
No matter, I’ll be there on opening night, or shortly thereafter, with bells and whistles and a box of tissues
It’s Ryan Gosling, people! Did you see what he looks like in the darn thing. No? Just look right.
