The Cruiseter Goes Back Into the Future

Tom Cruise, action star, is back.

The actor may be working on his softer side and by that I mean the Rock of Ages movie but the guy’s looking to getting back into the sci-fi game soon in the not-so-distant future.

The Cruiseter has signed on to star in Oblivion, a bit of a thriller set in a post-apocalyptic world in which the planet has become so dangerous and inhospitable (wait, we’re not there yet?) that the population has taken up residence above the clouds.

He will play a soldier tasked with living alone on Earth, repairing the tech that keeps an eye on the ruined wasteland and searches for what’s left of a savage alien race.

Sounds so WALL-E.

While on mission, the man will one day find a mysterious woman in a crash-landed pod, setting off events that force him to question everything he knows.

Oh the drama....

Joseph Kosinski (TRON: Legacy) will direct the small-cast/big-idea project (that’s kinda how he describes it), which was based on his own story, with production set to begin in October.
