Fox is reportedly developing a two-hour 24 prequel to help bridge the two-year gap between the show’s sixth and seventh seasons.
The show, which did not air at all this year because of the writers strike, will return in its traditional 24-episode format next January.
Eight episodes were in the can before the strike began, but Fox decided against airing a partial season and breaking up the flow of the real-time drama, opting instead to hold them, with the prequel set for fall to whet fans’ appetites.
Production on the remaining episodes of the seventh season, which features the show's first female president, played by Cherry Jones, will resume next month.
Anything that brings Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) back to TV is fine with me – just as long as the masterminds behind the show have found a way to make up for the major suckage of the sixth season.
