Flo’s Coming to Tinseltown

No Dido? No problem!

One of my favorite singer-songwriters, Dido, is up for an Oscar later this month, for the
127 Hours song “I Rise,” right, but the songbird won’t be able to make it to the ceremony, unfortunately.

The powers that be, undeterred, have turned to the next best thing for a sub: Florence Welch, the frontwoman of the Grammy-nominated – and amazing! – Florence + the Machine.

Welch will
pinch-hit for Dido at the show, performing the song with Oscar-winning Indian composer A. R. Rahman – and later in the evening, she (and the Machine) will turn it up at Elton John and David Furnish’s annual Oscar party benefiting the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

Way to go, red!

Also
slated to take to the Oscar stage this year is Gwyneth freaking Paltrow, who’ll perform “Coming Home” from Country Strong, as well as Tangled stars Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi, and Randy Newman (who wrote a song for Toy Story 3).
