Burke’s Back

It has been a long while since we last saw Isaiah Washington’s Dr. Burke on TV’s Grey’s Anatomy, and while I never thought we’d see the actor back on the show again after he got sacked in 2007 following that nastiness that went down with T.R. Knight, we will see him again.

As early as this spring.

Washington will revisit Seattle Grace Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital in May to play a part in Sandra Oh’s farewell episode.

“It’s important to me that [Oh’s] Cristina’s journey unfolds exactly as it should,” said the show’s creator, Shonda Rhimes. “Burke is vital to that journey – he gives her story that full-circle moment we need to properly say goodbye to our beloved Cristina Yang.”

While the feminist in me is cringing a little bit about what this could mean, I am looking forward to seeing this one play out.

And, hey…if Justin Chambers ever leaves the show, then maybe Katherine Heigl can come back then as well? That is, if she is still open to the idea at the time and/or not too busy.
