Look at Harry Connick Jr. – doesn’t he look just so...good?
The multi-hyphenate is headed back to Broadway this season to headline On a Clear Day You Can See Forever as Dr. Mark Bruckner, a 1970s therapist struggling to get over his wife’s death while juggling his falling in love with the past life of a patient he has unlocked during a session.
The powers that be have added a gay twist to the production, though. Y’ know, to ensure audiences feel like they’re getting more than just another revival.
In the original show, the patient and the past life (a sultry, swinging, life-loving 1940s jazz singer named Melinda) were both played by females. In the revised story, the patient is portrayed by a young gay man (David Turner).
Complications arise.
Newcomer Jessie Mueller plays the period alter, though. Click here to see a picture of her.
