Something Dashing the Way of Great White Way Comes

Look at Harry Connick Jr.
– doesn’t he look just so...good?

The multi-hyphenate is headed back to Broadway this season to headline On a Clear Day You Can See Forever as Dr. Mark Bruckner, a 1970s therapist struggling to get over his wife’s death while juggling his falling in love with the past life of a patient he has unlocked during a session.

The powers that be have added a gay twist to the production, though. Y know, to ensure audiences feel like they’re getting more than just another revival.

In the original show, the patient and the past life (a sultry, swinging, life-loving 1940s jazz singer named Melinda) were both played by females. In the revised story, the patient is portrayed by a young gay man (David Turner).

Complications arise.

Newcomer Jessie Mueller plays the period alter, though. Click here to see a picture of her.
