Madonna Directs Again

The directing bug bit Madonna but good.

The Queen of Pop is set to helm her second feature, a biopic called W.E. about the scandalous affair that led King Edward VIII to step down from the throne. The project will tell the story of the king’s liaison with Wallis Sampson, whom he eventually left the crown behind to marry.

M reportedly has lined up Up in the Air’s Vera Farmiga to play Simpson, an American socialite who divorced her second husband when, in 1936, Edward proposed to her after a two-year affair.

Truth or Dare director Alex Keshishian is co-writing the script. W.E. will follow up her first effort behind the camera, 2008’s Filth and Wisdom.

Update: And in other Queen of Pop news....

Madonna is in talks to launch a from-your-head-down-to-your-toes women’s clothing line to be sold at Macy’s.

The actual clothing range would be called – what else? – Material Girl, while the lingerie line would go by the name Truth or Dare.

I smell an Mstastic return to New York Fashion Week....
