From Rap to Hip-hop

It’s been kinda hard out there for Terrence Howard since he was nominated by the Academy for his work in 2005’s Hustle & Flow.

He got let go from the Iron Man franchise after one turn as Tony Stark’s BFF, Col. James Rhodes, the man who becomes first War Machine and then Iron Patriot.

There were allegations that he was a bit of an abusive a--hole in his personal life.

And the parts? The parts – the more remarkable of the lot supporting (like in The Brave OneLee Daniels’ The Butler, and Prisoners) – haven’t measured up to what he showed us in his starmaker.

So Howard is revisiting that formula, and scaling back.

The actor has signed on to lead Empire, a new show for Fox, a drama (featuring original and current music) centering on a savvy hip-hop superstar that is about to take his company public.

Different trials and tribulations are sure to ensue.
