Scott Weiland is dead.
The Grammy-winning erstwhile Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver frontman was found unresponsive in the back of his Wildabouts tour bus in Minneapolis this evening. He was 48.
A cause of death is TBD, but Weiland has had a well-chronicled struggle with substance abuse for years.

Update 1: Wow. I had forgotten Weiland was behind so much of the music that I grew up with.
What a shame he was so tortured for so long and still so prolific. It must not have been easy.
Update 2: In a letter published by Rolling Stone on Dec. 7, Mary Forsberg Weiland, the ex-wife of the rocker, urged the industry and the fans of the fallen star not to glorify his death. To think of Dec. 3 not as the day Scott Weiland passed away but as the day the glimmer of hope his closest and dearest held for him was finally extinguished.
