Marnie would be so jealous.
Allison Williams, who plays the rudderless and tragically bad wannabe-singer-friend of Lena Dunham’s Hannah on HBO’s Girls, has been cast as Peter Pan on NBC’s upcoming new live-TV special event.
Unlike Marnie, though, Williams is a classically trained singer (and, boy, does she sing badly good), and, unlike Carrie Underwood who played Maria on last year’s Sound of Music special, she is an actress so I am confident she has everything she needs to rock this one.
Know who else thinks so? The producers of Peter Pan Live!, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron.
“Allison Williams is a major find,” they said in announcing her casting. “She will reinvent the role with her wit, her warmth, her dynamic flying, and her wonderful musical abilities.”
Sounds like a ringing endorsement.
Now, #ICYMI, Christopher Walken will be playing Captain Hook on the special.
