The Emancipation of Katie Holmes Goes Broadway

You’d think Katie Holmes would seek the privacy and comfort of a closed set for her first project post-Tom Cruise (she was supposed to begin work on Molly, a movie she co-wrote), but the actress is actually putting herself out for all to see.

Indeed she is, and shes doing it on Broadway.

The actress has signed on to star in Theresa Rebeck’s new five-character play, Dead Accounts, this fall. She previously appeared in 2008’s All My Sons.

Makes sense, since she’s now based in New York City, and the most essential thing for her to do right now, professionally, is to remind the industry that she’s capable of more than just acting happy next to the biggest A-Lister in the world.

Break a leg, Katie!.
