So this is both happy news and sort of like, really?! kinda news.
Netflix is reviving the beloved Gilmore Girls.
Last seen on regular TV, on The CW, the show starring Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel will be revived for a limited engagement that will stream some time next year, I should imagine. The deal is for four 90-minute so-called movielets, which will be overseen by main Gilmore Girl Amy Sherman-Palladino and her executive producer-husband, Daniel Palladino.
Sweet! But, also, can’t we just leave the past in the past and stop rebooting/reviving shows that, yes, we totally adored but that had a nice run that was a meaningful moment of our lives? It never is the same.
I mean, it’s always nice too see old friends again, especially if the last time you saw them was during a much-maligned seventh and final season in 2006-’07, but the magic can never be duplicated (just ask Veronica Mars). Some key figures are probably not even going to take part in the project (cough, cough, Melissa McCarthy, cough).
Seriously, Hollywood: Oy with the rehashes already.
