Corrections Interrupted

HBO has no need for Corrections.

That’s right – the cabler has decided to pass on ordering a series based on Jonathan Franzen’s The Corrections that would have starred Chris Cooper, Diane Wiest, Ewan McGregor, and Maggie Gyllenhaal (pictured here with her on-screen brother, played by the Moulin Rouge! actor).

It’s not so much that the powers that be didn’t like the pilot they saw (Franzen himself co-wrote it with director Noah Baumbach), they just didn’t see any long-term potential – they reportedly had concerns about adapting the best-seller into a long-running series.

Mmm, I wonder if perhaps another company (cough, cough, Showtime, cough) would be into picking this up.....
