Here’s some news that sent a chill up and down my spine: the Scream franchise is being remade as soon as this fall.
Original writer Kevin Williamson has been working on a trilogy that will bring back many of the characters from the original movies, which so cleverly sent-up older horror flicks back in the late 1990s.
Williamson is said to have approached Courteney Cox Arquette and David Arquette to reprise their roles as Gale Weathers and Deputy Dwight “Dewey” Riley.
Their involvement will depend on their schedules, natch. Courteney Cox Arquette, for one, will have to juggle this and her new TV show, Cougar Town.
No word on whether Neve Campbell’s Sidney Prescott, among others, will make the cut. I doubt it, though. If you remember, it took a lot of convincing for Campbell to sign onto 2000’s Scream 3.
