I think it’s really been one of the most travestiest of Hollywood travesties that Michelle Pfeiffer hasn’t headlined a movie since 2002’s White Oleander.
Yes, she appeared in Hairspray and Stardust a couple of years ago – those didn’t ride on her, though – but she also had two movies go straight to DVD.
Michelle frakkin’ Pfeiffer went straight to DVD, while the likes of Speidi (ew!) got bona fide careers out of nothing.
Enter Stephen Frears.
The British director has revitalized Pfeiffer’s career with the buzzy Chéri (opening in limited release on June 26), in which the actress plays an aging courtesan opposite up-and-comer Rupert Friend.
I trust this is a new beginning for Pfeiffer, and that Hollywood will start to make up for lost time.

It's about time, you're right! She looks phenomenal. I'm surprised she's been so misused lately. She needs to get her Oscar soon.
