Yes, Kitsch Kravers, our main guy is going to portray one of the better guys in an untitled firefighter drama starring Miles Teller.

Josh Brolin and James Badge Dale (13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi) are also on board, as is Jeff Bridges.

Oblivion’s Joseph Kosinski is directing the project f.k.a. No Exit, which was inspired by the Granite Mountain Hotshots, a group of firefighters that, in 2013, attempted to put out the Yarnell Hill Fire in Arizona, which claimed 19 of 20 crew members.

The script, btw, is based on a GQ magazine article titled “No Exit.”

Kitschy Director

Peter Berg must have seen something in Taylor Kitsch, whom he cast on TV’s Friday Night Lights and directed in Lone Survivor and Battleship.

I say this because the director is going to produce Pieces, Kitsch’s feature-film directorial debut.

The project – which the actor also wrote – will center on a trio of friends whose lives change completely after they intercept a drug run, of all things.

Kitsch calling the shots? Well, that’s something any Kitsch Kraver can support, no?

Kitsch for Life...or Death

Xavier Dolan’s forthcoming The Death and Life of John F. Donovan may feature Adele, but it for sure will showcase Taylor Kitsch.

The True Detective has signed on to join Jessica Chastain and Kit Harington in the story of an American film star who struck up a secret pen friendship with an 11-year-old Londoner (a fellow actor, it seems) – a friendship that is exposed as something sordid by a merciless gossip editrix, which sends the now-grown young man’s life into a tizzy (the actor will have died 10 years ago, so that’s that).

Kitsch in on board for a role that is, of course, being kept secret at this time, but let’s take a moment to imagine he will be kissing the maybe-erstwhile Jon Snow, alright?

Put that in your pipes and smoke it, Kitsch Kravers.

Hello, Det. Kitsch!

I know, I know – Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn are the de facto stars of the upcoming second installment of HBO’s celebrated True Detective series, but look at Taylor Kitsch’s face.

Kitsch Kravers know what I’m talking about.

The Friday Night Lights alumnus is but one of the stars that will be part of the story when the show returns with eight new episodes this summer. Farrell and Kitsch will be joined by Rachel McAdams as three cops who, together with a career criminal (Vaughn), must navigate the waters of a conspiracy in the wake of a murder. Here’s your first taste of it all now.

Keilly Reilly is also on board, btw.

The new season of True Detective is set to premiere on June 21.

True Kitsch

So Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn are confirmed.

For the second season of HBO’s True Detective, that is.

And, now, so is Taylor Kitsch.

That is, according to Taylor Kitsch.

See, the premium cabler has not confirmed that Kitsch will be a part of the next outing of the anthology series, but – rejoice, Kitsch Kravers! – the actor has, saying he, “can’t f---ing wait to hit camera. I’m really excited.”

Raid Man

Looks like Taylor Kitsch is hot again, Kitsch Kravers.

Fresh off a turn on HBO’s critically acclaimed and popular The Normal Heart, Kitsch not is (still) rumored for a part on the second season of the cabler’s True Detective but, now, he is also said to be mulling over the starring role in the English-language remake of The Raid.

The 2011 Indonesian hit – whose sequel came out this year, right? – concerned an elite Indonesian SWAT team trapped in a building run by deadly thugs.

The Americanized project is expected to stick as closely as possible to that narrative.

They Want Him to Stay

Get this, Kitsch Kravers: This summer, our boy’s serving us a bit of counterprogramming.

Indeed and good, given his iffy track record with big summer blockbusters (Battleship was, well, you know...fun but also...what it was), Taylor Kitsch is starring in The Grand Seduction, a new comedy about a cricket-loving doctor that gets sorta tricked by Brendan Gleeson into spending a month in Tickle Head, a tiny economically imperiled – and hockey-happy – Newfoundland harbor village.

Worlds-collide hilarity ensues.

Check out the trailer for the movie, an indie remake of the French-Canadan film La Grande Séduction that was first announced back in August 2012.

The Grand Seduction will be in (some) theaters...tomorrow.

A Most Important Story

HBO’s The Normal Heart is almost here, kids.

And Ryan Murphy’s take on the Larry Kramer Tony-winning 1985 play is a battle cry, as evidenced by its tagline: “To win a war, you have to start one.”

To which war does the film refer? My, the one on HIV/AIDS – a war against so many rebelled during the early days of the epidemic that claimed so many...and a war that we are under the delusion we’ve won.

So be sure to read the new Hollywood Reporter cover story on The Normal Heart.

Definitely watch the film’s trailer.

And absolutely plan on planting your butt in front of the TV on May 25 to watch Mark Ruffalo, Matt Bomer, Taylor Kitsch, Jim Parsons, and Julia Roberts, among others, tell a story that not even Barbra Streisand could bring to the screen once upon a time.

It was and still is that much of a hot topic.

And it is a must.

Hey, gays guys – HBO has set a date.

A date for its Ryan Murphy-directed adaptation of The Normal Heart, that is.

The film – starring Jim Parsons (TV’s The Big Bang Theory), Mark Ruffalo, Matt Bomer, a fair-haired Taylor Kitsch (pictured here, at right, with Ruffalo), Jonathan Groff, and Julia Roberts – is set to premiere during the long Memorial Day weekend. On May 25, to be precise.

So save the date.

No Friday Light Nights movie?

Seems that will the case now that the show’s mastermind, Peter Berg, has put the kibosh on a new silver-screen incarnation of the H.G. “Buzz” Bissinger book that would serve as a continuation to the beloved NBC show of the same name that starred Kyle Chandler, Connie Britton, and a number of Hollywood PYTs like Taylor Kitsch, Michael B. Jordan, and Minka Kelly.

“There’s not gonna be a movie,” Berg recently said. “We talked about it; some people thought it was a good idea, some didn’t.

“I’ve come to believe it’s probably not a good idea and I seriously doubt it’s gonna happen.”

Well, that is a bummer.

Berg isn’t the only who thinks it might be a good thing to leave very well alone (the show earned three Emmys during its run, including one for Chandler and another for writer Jason Katims).

“I’m not doing it. I’m never gonna be in that movie,” Kitsch told Vulture while promoting his Berg-directed Lone Survivor. “There was already a movie! And the show ended f---in’ spot-on. We’re good.”

That I agree with.

Still, though…it woulda been nice to catch one more game. Because Friday Light Nights provided the only kind of football I care for: fictional and full of drama.

The Soldier Thing Is...

I so definitely want to see Lone Survivor now.

And all of my newfound enthusiasm can be credited to Mark Wahlberg’s big mouth.

Evidently, the actor caused a ruckus earlier this week when he called out some of his peers for likening the prep work they do for projects to going to war. I guess he was asked about his own training for the Peter Berg-directed based-on-a-true-story tale of four Navy SEALs on an ill-fated covert mission in Afghanistan back in 2005.

“I don’t give a f--- what you did,” Wahlberg said at the movie’s AFI Fest premiere, in a not-so-thinly veiled jab at hyperbole-prone actors. “You don’t do what these guys did. How f---ing dare you.”

The blogosphere zeroed in on Tom Cruise as the target of the Wahl-rant, although the Fighter star has denied having anyone in particular in mind when he said what he said. Regardless, I kinda love that Wahlberg let it rip.

Lone Survivor, which co-stars Taylor Kitsch, Ben Foster, Emile Hirsch, Alexander Ludwig, and Eric Bana, will be out on Dec. 27 before going wide on Jan. 10.

Alright, Kitsch Kravers – I think we’re coming out the other side of the 2012 situation.

Taylor Kitsch is taking on another character-driven-ish role in Kinky Boots director Julian Jarrold’s Exit 147, the story of a mean-as-a-mofo cop who stops a traveler driving through the desert at night and starts f---in’ with the guy’s head.

The movie is due to go into production next spring.

Up next for Kitsch, though, is Peter Berg’s Lone Survivor, which is opening wide in January, and Ryan Murphy’s take on The Normal Heart for HBO.

Blond Taylor Kitsch Alert!

OMG, OMG, OMG, Kitsch Kravers: Taylor Kitsch has gone blond.

I die.

And he’s not done so just for fun – he’s done it for work. For his part on the Normal Heart adaptation that Ryan Murphy is working on for HBO Films.

Ryan Murphy’s forthcoming adaptation of The Normal Heart for HBO Films just got one hechuva lot hotter.

And it already has Matt Bomer on board!

Savages’ Taylor Kitsch is joining Bomer and Julia Roberts and Mark Ruffalo, to play a closeted banker who becomes a prominent AIDS activist.

Jim Parsons (TV’s The Big Bang Theory) also has come on board the project. He’ll be reprising his gay activist character from the 2011 Tony-winning Broadway revival.

I know this may not be germane to plot, but, if at all possible, could Murphy include a shirtless scene or two (of Bomer and definitely of Kitsch)?

A Man to Be Seduced, Indeed

Alright, it’s time for a reality check: Taylor Kitsch’s summer did not go as planned.

John Carter was a bomb, Battleship disappointed, and Savages is doing OK as a sort of art film. It’s time to regroup.

And that’s what the actor is doing now that he’s signed on to co-star opposite Brendan Gleeson in The Grand Seduction, an indie remake of the French-Canadan film La Grande Séduction.

Kitsch will play a visiting doctor in an economically imperiled Canadian village that Gleeson’s character tries to convince to stay for good as the story unfolds. Sounds kinda coming-of-age-y – and I likey.

Guess he’s a Kitsch Kraver, too.

Two Guys, A Girl, and a Whole Lotta Violence and Pot

Savages – that’s what this summer’s going to be all about, and not just for Taylor Kitsch who, in the eyes of many, needs to bounce back off the failure of John Carter.

I didn’t see the flick, so he doesn’t owe me a thing.

Besides, I’m a Kitsch Kraver through and through and wouldn’t mind catching it one mindless weekend afternoon.

But I digress.

Savages is the new Oliver Stone, and it looks hella intense. It’s an adaptation of the thrilling Don Winslow novel, and it features a star-studded cast that is making me salivate with anticipation.

I mean, there’s Kitsch and Kick-Ass star Aaron Johnson as a couple of pot growers, but there’s also Blake Lively playing both their girlfriend (click here to find out what Kitsch thinks about that), the exciting John Travolta and Uma Thurman (playing roles I don’t presume will interact much, but, y’ know...reuniting nevertheless), and Salma Hayek as the ruthless Mexican cartel wife of Benicio Del Toro.

The Age of Kitsch Is Upon Us

The new Disney action-adventure movie John Carter is not enjoying the best word of mouth, sight unseen, but that doesn’t mean you should dog on its star, Taylor Kitsch.

I mean, not that you could.

This is (was?) supposed to be the Friday Night Lights alumnus’ big-time welcome into the Hollywood scene, y’ know. Now, the once-much-anticipated flick has turned into a cautionary tale for overtly ambitious studios in flux.

Here’s to hoping John Carter surprises everyone, though.

If it has an untapped strength, that’s the to-be-discovered appeal of the Kitsch.
