Virtually no sooner had the last Golden Globe been handed out last night that news broke that David Bowie has died. Our Hero, our Rebel, Rebel, our Ziggy Stardust was 69.
The Grammy winner had been battling cancer – liver cancer, evidently – the last year and a half.
In spite of it, Bowie had been working, still making music and breaking the rules as he went along, having just released a jazzy new record titled Blackstar on his birthday last Friday.
Bowie had two children, a son and a daughter, the latter of whom he shared with his wife of 24 years, Iman.
Update: Click here to see how Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, Yoko Ono, Ricky Gervais, Linda Perry, and Kanye West, among others, remembered the Thin White Duke.
