Eddie Redmayne may already have won an Oscar – but is he Harry Potter franchise material?

That’s the hope ’round Hollywood these days.

The Theory of Everything star is in the running to portray Newt Scamander in the adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which is set in New York 70 years before the story of the Chose One and is based on the eponymous Hogwarts textbook.

Scamander, FYI, is a magiczoologist, a scholar of magical creatures, and his adventures are expected to spawn a three-picture franchise.

So if at first Jupiter Ascending doesn’t hit....
