Nah, calm down – the actor has signed on to headline a new 1813-set miniseries by that name from screenwriter Steven Knight (Brad Pitt’s new untitled World War II romantic thriller), for BBC One. He will play a rogue adventurer who returns to Africa with more than a dozen diamonds of questionable provenance dead-set on avenging his late father, becoming embroiled in the war between Great Britain and America in the process.
Hardy came up with this original story with his father, btw. So it’s like, a family affair, yo.
