Mmm...a film about Stonewall directed by blockbuster helmer Roland Emmerich?
Well that should be...som’in’.
Alright, alright – so the guy did tackle the was-Shakespeare-a-fraud title Anonymous a few years ago....
Anyway, the German...auteur is set to work on Stonewall, a Jon Robin Baitz-written film about the June 28, 1969 police raid and riots at the Stonewall Inn in New York City’s Greenwich Village (you know the ones since all that activity gave way to the gay rights movement).
Jeremy Irvine, from War Horse and the upcoming The Railway Man (pictured here), has been tapped to star in the project, which will focus on a young man’s political awakening in the wake of the events that unfolded as history was being made around him.
