One-Track Mind

My obsession for the year, Michael Fassbender, is about to enter the Oscar race in one heckuva sexually charged way, as a sex addict in filmmaker Steve McQueen’s Shame.

The actor plays a man whose cold emotions and addiction combine to send his life down a veritable spiral. Carey Mulligan plays his sister, a woman troubled by her own demons who comes to stay with him in an effort to help him.

Sounds bleak, and desperate, and amazingly awards-friendly (Fassbender already picked up best-actor honors at the Venice Film Festival this season), plus the movie’s got some serious buzz because it features generous amounts of full-frontal nudity.
