No, the actor is not reason why Affleck and Jennifer Garner have split – but he is going to be in Affleck’s long-gestating Live By Night, the adaptation of another Dennis Lehane novel (the actor-cum-director popped his behind-the-camera cherry with Gone Baby Gone, which was written by Lehane.
The project centers on the son (Affleck) of a Boston police captain who works his way into Beantown’s criminal underbelly som’in’ fierce in order to tear it apart from the inside out. Messina – who was in Affleck’s Oscar-winning Argo – would play the guy’s BFF and partner in crime.
Following a couple of delays (one word: Batman), Live By Night is now scheduled for release in 2017.
