Birthday Girl

Props for not giving up, girl.

Mandy Moore is gonna give boob tube stardom yet another go.

Last seen attempting to recur on Fox’s short-lived Red Band Society, M2 will next pop up on this ensemble TV dramedy that Crazy, Stupid, Love’s Dan Fogelman is writing for NBC. The action will center on a group of characters that were all born on the same day.

Other...birthday-havers will be Milo Ventimiglia (TV’s The Whispers), Justin Hartley (TV’s Revenge), and Sterling Brown (FX’s The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story).

Married No Moore

Whoa.

Mandy Moore and Ryan Adams have called it quits.

The married-since-2009 couple announced that they have mutually decided to end their (still-somewhat-surprising) marriage after almost six years together.

Their rep says that all is cool and respectful and amicable between the two, so I am sure this one will go down as privately as it started and unfolded.

Just like M2 and Adams would want it.

Dr. Moore

Now this is a surefire way to get on TV.

After numerous attempts to launch a new show, Mandy Moore has gone and joined one that’s already on a roll.

M2 has been tapped to recur on Fox’s Red Band Society, a promising new medical drama led by Oscar winner Octavia Spencer.

Moore’s character, the chief of staff at Ocean Park Hospital, home to an eclectic group of young cancer patients, also will be – conveniently enough for the actress – the ex-fiancĂ©e of the pediatric surgeon that Dave Annable (TV’s Brothers & Sisters) will portray.

So she has the potential to stick around...for a while.

Red Band Society is set to premiere on Sept. 17.

The Cutest Lawyer on Earth

Mandy Moore’s road to TV stardom has been a long, rocky one.

She tried in 2011. She gave it another shot in 2012.

And nada.

But perhaps that’s because she was trying her hand at comedy. M2 does dark comedy well, as we know from Saved! – and rare is the mainstream-tube project that goes there successfully.

So Moore’s giving it a go again, but, this time, after almost trying comedy again this year, she’s looking to a drama to be her charmed third effort.

CBS’ The Advocates is the project, and it will co-star Ben McKenzie (TNT’s Southland). My Mandy will play a fierce ADA who – Epiphany Alert! – teams up with the actor’s ex-con character to advocate on behalf of underdogs facing the law (’cause like, she finds out something or another that she didn’t know about her tragic past and her own connection to a wrongly incarcerated man).

Alright, Eye Network...this is your chance...go on and take it.

Mandy Making Music...with Hubby

Well this makes me smile: Mandy Moore is making music again.

And, to boot, she’s recruited quite a talented songwriting partner to ease the process: her husband Ryan Adams.

“It felt like a no-brainer,” M2 recently said. “I’m not trying to play a different role, but with him I get a different sound, a different way of writing, and I like that.”

Whatever works, girlfriend. Whatever works.

Future Girl on TV

Mandy Moore is gunning for small-screen stardom.

As expected, M2 could be coming to a TV near you this fall now that ABC has ordered a half-hour single-camera comedy pilot starring the Saved! scene-stealer.

My Mandy has given and given without taking for so long I think it is high time America really fell in love with her, so I am thrilled for the girl.

The Next TV Comedy Star

Holy frak, I
’m excited:
Mandy Moore is gon’ star in her first sitcom for ABC.

M2 is set to headline the single-camera Us and Them, a family comedy told from the POV of newlyweds Annie (the Saved! scene-stealer) and Ben (who is yet to be cast).

Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum) will direct the pilot from a script co-written by Bob Fischer, one of the Wedding Crashers scribes.

While I think Moore has this Michelle Pfeiffer quality to her, which leads her to excel in wicked parts, I think she’s also beyond-adorable and the right material could catapult her to TV darling, if not America’s Sweetheart status, at last.

What She Does for It

Kellan Lutz.

What more could I want?

Dermot Mulroney has brought together two of my favorite people for his directorial debut, the dramedy-ish Love Wedding Marriage, the story of Ava (Moore), a marriage counselor determined on fixing her parents’ (James Brolin and Jane Seymour) union.

Gung-ho as she is, though, Ava’s not noticing that all the effort she’s putting to this task she’s not putting to working on her own new marriage to Lutz’s oh-so-ripped character.

Watch the trailer and tell me you are not RSVPing for opening night on June 3 (enjoy the part at the 1:03-1:07 mark, y’all):

Mandy Checks Back In

The lovely and underused-by-Hollywood-lately Mandy Moore is visiting the good ol’ doctors of Grey’s Anatomy again next season.

Moore, who played a pivotal role is last May’s deadly season finale, will reprise her guesting role as Mary, a patient of Dr. Bailey’s (Chandra Wilson) in this fall’s sixth episode.

Up next, the singer-actress will be heard in Disney’s Tangled, which is due out on Thanksgiving.

Mandy Checks In

How did I miss this?

Mandy Moore is going to guest on the two-hour season finale of Grey’s Anatomy next month, playing a patient of Dr. Bailey’s (Chandra Wilson) named Mary as part of an explosive cliffhanger.

Veronica Mars alumnus Ryan Devlin has signed on to play her hubby.

Grey’s Anatomy just got more must-y all of the sudden. And that’s coming from a fan who still likes the show.

Another Husband for Mandy Moore

No, Mandy Moore is not splitting up with her husband of 10 months, Ryan Adams.

The actress has signed on for a romantic comedy called First Love, Then Marriage, and Kellan Lutz, who’s like, thisclose to becoming one of my favorites ever since I met him last year, will co-star as her husband.

Moore will play a marriage counselor, who after finding out her parents have separated, does all she can to bring them back together, to the detriment of her own new marriage.

I hope this doesn’t end up a by-the-numbers type of thing....

And OMG, Mandy, I know you’re a married lady and all, but you gotta run your fingers through Lutz’s abs, if anything because you can and the rest of us can’t.

Just Because, Pt. 54

M2 Does Dubai, people!

Mandy Moore attended opening night of the Dubai International Film Festival tonight.

What is she up to these days, anyway? Yes, she’s voicing the title tole in Disney’s 3D-animated Rapunzel, and she recently released Amanda Leigh, but what else?

Mandy Gets Her Princess On

Sweet-voiced Mandy Moore has signed on to voice the title character Disney’s 3D-animated Rapunzel.

And get this, Zachary Levi (TV’s Chuck) has been cast as the voice of the bandit who finds himself on the road with the rebellious, looong-haired princess.

The project was previously known as Rapunzel Unbraided, but John Lasseter, Pixar’s chief creative officer, rebooted it after he came on board.

The new version “picks up with the princess, famous for her 70 feet of golden hair, after she’s been stolen from her parents’ castle as an infant and imprisoned. Now a teenager, Rapunzel escapes and goes on the run with a bandit as her captor pursues them.”

Rapunzel is expected in theaters just in time for the holidays next year.

Mandy as a Spokeswoman

Mandy Moore has done a FunnyOrDie.com video…in which the singer hawks…Red Bull Energy Douche.

Ladies, if you want to take the world by the balls, this is the product for you:

I like it when Moore uses variations of the word “f---.”

She’s not that innocent, you know.

Mandy Moore’s Going Back in Time

With her new album, Amanda Leigh, coming out next month – the cute first single off which, “I Could Break Your Heart Any Day of the Week,” I simply adore – Mandy Moore is getting all kinds of revealing, from a spread in Details magazine to a chat with EW.com.

In the latter, the singer, who describes her new album’s sound as “quintessential California ’70s pop,” says she wants people to give it the benefit of the doubt, and briefly considered releasing it under a different name.

“I [once] found myself in the company of Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, who had really quality music, much more so than mine,” Moore said of her desire to break from bubblegum pop mold for which she first became known.

I’d say she’s doing one heckuva job at it.

Update: Moore may not have wanted to do a video for “I Could Break Your Heart Any Day of the Week,” but she did one, anyway – and let me tell you: Girlfriend looks mighty sexy in a trenchcoat. Click here for the proof.

This Is the Song of the Day!

Newlywed Mandy Moore has a new album coming out called Amanda Leigh, the first single off which is called “I Could Break Your Heart Any Day of the Week” and now available on iTunes.

Go buy it, I’ll wait.

OK – so as I write this I’m on my third listen in a row.

I love this song.

It’s bouncy, it’s pretty, it’s Mandy:

A Ms. No More, Mandy Moore Comes Back a Mrs.

Mandy Moore has wed Ryan Adams – and my heart has broken a little.

The happy couple tied the knot yesterday in Savannah, Ga., and they did it quietly, just like they wanted.

Moore’s first order of business as a married woman – a nice honeymoon, natch – will have to wait, though, for she has a new album titled Amanda Leigh to plug, which she’s already talking about.

Click here to read all about it, and to find some songs free for download.

Happy and Sad

Mandy Moore is is engaged and “very happy.”

I always thought we’d end up together.

Best wishes, anyway. Ryan Adams is one lucky dude.

An Independent Spirit

I said it once before and I’ll say it again: As an actress, Mandy Moore thrives in roles that call for her to be slightly wicked, like in American Dreamz or Saved!, you know.

Just recently I rented Dedication, an independent film directed by Justin Theroux in which Moore plays a less-than-sunny children’s-book illustrator.

The film isn’t the best film we didn’t watch last year, but it certainly showcased Moore’s range in a way that neither Because I Said So or License to Wed did. Hollywood is doing everybody a disservice by pigeonholing her in romantic comedies.

As evidenced by the risks she’s taken in her recording career – eschewing the pop star track (which boasted “I Wanna Be With You,” among others) to put out a CD of covers; releasing the folky and underappreciated Wild Hope – Moore likes a challenge. So I say give it to her.

Moore is ready to be extraordinary, so have a little faith in her.

How did you know that “All good things /

Come to an end.”
