Locked and Loaded

And we have us a trailer for the upcoming man-packed Michael Bay joint, 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi.

Toby Stephens, James Badge Dale, John Krasinski, David Denman, and Max Martini (Fifty Shades of Grey) are among the studs that Bay has assembled to tell the fact-based story of the 2012 deadly assault on the U.S. State Department Special Mission Compound in Benghazi.

The movie will offer a from-the-ground perspective on the events, highlighting the action of the situation rather than the politics. Here is the first trailer for the production – it’s a red-band trailer, so be careful where you watch it:

13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi will be in theaters on Jan. 15.

Benghazi Man

Looks like it’s finally James Badge Dale o’clock.

Michael Bay has cast the scene-stealer of 2013 in his 13 Hours, a fact-based account of the deadly assault on the U.S. State Department Special Mission Compound in Benghazi.

JBD will take on the role of the leader of the security team that strives to protect American lives in the assault. He will co-star opposite John Krasinski in the movie, which, evidently, is shaping up but fast.

Digging for the Truth

James Badge Dale pretty much stole the summer that just was.

And now, he is fixin’ to steal the spotlight from one Cate Blanchett.

JBD has signed on to co-star opposite the Oscar winner in David Mamet’s Blackbird, a present-day take on the JFK assassination in which a woman discovers that her dear ol’ grandpa (a Hollywood visual effects guy who moonlighted for the U.S. government) had been keeping secrets about the president’s death.

Dale – who is fresh off playing Robert Oswald in Parkland – will play a military major pretty dead-set on having the truth of these secrets come to light.

Mmm…JBD in uniform again, in a bigger, showier part than the one he played in World War Z?

Yes, please!

Hopping On

I tell ya, watch out for that hottie James Badge Dale.

The star of AMC’s little-seen Rubicon played a pivotal part in Iron Man 3 earlier this (cinematic) summer, and he’s in both World War Z and The Lone Ranger.

He’s one to watch, OK. Quite probably the next Taylor Kitsch, but – and it pains me to say this – y’ know...with the actual hits to back up the statement.

Anyway, JBD is gonna keep playing it smart by not carrying a big-time movie quite just yet: he has joined the cast of the forthcoming comedy Stretch.

Patrick Wilson is actually starring in the Joe Carnahan-directed project, as a down-on-his-luck chauffeur who drives around a mysterious billionaire (Chris Pine) to get rid of his debt.

Production is set to get underway in L.A. this weekend. No details about JBD’s part in the movie have been released, but I think we can all agree he’ll be playing someone attractive.

Hello, Coldblood

Well, well, Robert Downey Jr. – it looks like the powers that be really want you to earn your massive paycheck in Iron Man 3.

The powers that be have gone and cast a third new guy for Tony Stark to deal with next time we see him on the big screen, this on top of a new gal, Rebecca Hall, who stepped in when Jessica Chastain had to bow out of the blockbuster.

James Badge Dale, whom TV fans will remember either from the third season of 24 or from AMC’s one-season wonder Rubicon, will play Eric Savin, a.k.a. Coldblood.

Ben Kingsley and Guy Pearce are already on board the threequel, btw, as the Mandarin (maybe!) and as the Extremis geneticist Aldrich Killian, respectively.

Anyway, back to Dale.

In the comics, Savin is this lieutenant colonel who was put in charge of something called Project: Ultra, and who eventually was resurrected as the cyborg Coldblood via cybernetic surgery after stepping on a land mine.

Sounds like a part with layers, IMHO, and one that the actor will knock outta the park.
