Mmm...what is the song of the year?
The easy choice would be something by Ariana Grande or something by Iggy Azalea, right? I mean, those girls dominated radio in 2014 (especially during the summer months) and have been doing their thing on all the (music) awards so far, y’ know...no “Problem” – ’cause they “Fancy” and s---.
I almost wanna say Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda” is my choice, for obvious reasons: This was the year of the booty.
But then again, why not go with Jennifer Lopez’s “Booty” (the remix it did feature Azalea...).
And, yeah, Taylor Swift’s 1989 gave us something to shake it off to out of the woods and onto a blank space with lots style, indeed – but in the fall. Her record’s influence will be most felt in 2015, I think.
Obviously, for my money, the song of the year if the one we didn’t hear: Madonna’s new single.
Alas, I must pick som’in’: it’s tradition now.
So I’m going with “Bang Bang.” That is a fun song.
It was a Song of Summer finalist. And Grande is featured on it – as are Jessie J and Nicki Minaj. (Ms. J is going to have a masterpiece of a new year, and La Minaj is just getting started on leaving her Pinkprint mark on the zeitgeist.
So, yeah, “Bang Bang” it is!
Takes you there, huh.
It sure did in 2014.

Anaconda On the Loose!
So Nicki Minaj has a big butt.
That much has always been clear.
But now, Her Minajesty, armed with “Anaconda,” her get-to-twerking Sir Mix-a-Lot-sampling new single, is letting the world know that she knows she has “a big, fat ass” – and that she loves it.
That she owns it.
That she likes it.
“I have a big, fat ass,” is actually the closing spit of the song. It is a statement, no follow-up needed.
“Anaconda,” I think, is meant to be like, this take-back-our-girl-power self-objectifying/celebration, right. A little too on the nose to be a parody, yet a little too precise not to be taken seriously. After all, for 14 years we have been aware that certain men – like Sir Mix-a-Lot – have anacondas (right...) that want none unless ladies got buns, hun.
Minaj is here to say to all her fellow Bs with a fat ass in the f---ing club – her words, not mine – that it is power to have a big butt. And that men ought to respect it.
From the looks of the rapper’s video for the song, men (or, at least, Drake, who makes a cameo in it) also need to worship it – but not touch it, OKRRR. Not without permission. Ever.
I thought that much also was clear.
Anyway, “Anaconda” is featured in Minaj’s upcoming Pink Print album.
And now you know (yeah, all the moves that Minaj has in the can).

Badonkadonk Alert!
Subtle.
Real subtle.
Real subtle.
That most definitely was not what Nicki Minaj was going for when she posed like this for the cover art of her new single, “Anaconda,” off her upcoming Pink Print album.
Your move, American Family Association.
Or like, do you care to get all up in arms and mobilize in the most vocal of ways only when any anally related acts of perceived offense concern the gays?

Now, is it me...or could that Parental Advisory could have been just a little more to the left, to the left?
