Your New Han Solo Is This Guy

Say hello to Alden Ehrenreich. You’re gonna be seeing a heckuva lot from him in the next few years.

Move, Chris Pratt – there’s a new It Guy in town.

Quite as expected, Ehrenreich (Hello, Caesar!) has landed the part of young Han Solo in Han Solo: A Star Wars Story, the second Star Warsverse spin-off anthology film that Phil Lord and Chris Miller are getting ready to direct for a 2018 release.

The project will follow this December’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, in as far as these side movies go.

Your Potential New Han Solo Could Be This Guy

Indiana Jones may be played only by Harrison Ford, per producer Frank Marshall – and since Ford is, still...well into his seventies – that statement stands with quite a bit of authority.

Alas, Hollywood seems to think the actor’s other iconic character, Han Solo, is fair game.

We all know by now that there’s a second Star Warsverse spin-off anthology film in the making, one focusing on a young Han Solo (this film will follow this December’s Rogue One: A Stars Wars Story); Phil Lord and Chris Miller (The LEGO Movie) are on board as helmers.

Hail, Caesar!’s Alden Ehrenreich is at the front o’ the line as the potential star of the project, which is slated for May 2018. The powers that be – and the industry in general – are said to be might impressed by the native Angeleno’s talent (he is also in the mix to play Howard Hughes for Warren Beatty).

Get it, boy!

Her Son Is a Soldier

How very one for the people, one for me!

Jennifer Aniston is set to co-star in The Yellow Birds, the adaptation of Kevin Powers’ war-in-Iraq-set novel. The film was originally meant to serve as a starring vehicle for one Benedict Cumberbatch, but the Cumber-stud has bounced from it, and now Jack Huston is set to mentor the two soldier-buds that Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse’s Tye Sheridan and Will Poulter Alden Ehrenreich (Blue Jasmine) will be portraying.

L’Aniston will play Sheridan’s mother.

The actress is currently shooting Garry Marshall’s Mother’s Day. Ergo my comment as the top of the situation.

Where’s Caesar?

Hail, Caesar!

More like where is he?

That is the mystery at the heart of the Coen brothers’ upcoming latest, a modern-day love letter to the old Hollywood studio system (of sorts), if I ever saw one recently.

No Country for Old Men’s Josh Brolin stars in the upcoming Hail, Caesar!, as Eddie Mannix, a Golden Age fixer who must locate Baird Whitlock, the kidnapped star of a studio’s big-time production of epically Roman proportions that is played by the one and only George Clooney.

Fargo’s Frances McDomand, Burn After Reading’s Tilda Swinton, Ralph Fiennes, Alden Ehrenreich, Scarlett Johansson, Jonah Hill, and Channing Tatum co-star.

Hail, Caesar! is due out on Feb. 5. Check out the trailer for the film now.

Young Lando!

He may be all about FX’s Atlanta these days – but Hollywood? Hollywood is all about him.

Donald Glover is going to star opposite Alden Ehrenreich in Han Solo: A Star Wars Story, the second Star Warsverse spin-off anthology film that Phil Lord and Chris Miller are preppin’ for 2018. Glover is gonna play...young Lando Calrissian!

So. Smooth! I luh it.

Up first, though, Star Wars fans (who, of course, know this): This December’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
