Bringing On the Sugar

Disney’s pulling all the stops for its upcoming live-action The Nutcracker and the Four Realms.

The Cider House Rules director Lasse Hallström is helming. Misty Copepland is on board, as the production’s lead ballerina.

And, now that she has been tapped for the role of the Sugar Plum Fairy, so is two-time Academy Award nominee Keira Knightley.

Alas, K2 won’t have any footwork to do at all, this in spite of the popularity of the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy.” Copeland will be the only cast member getting her dance on (so bullet dodged, Mackenzie Foy and Morgan Freeman!) – which makes sense, right? I mean, why set everyone else for failure. ;)

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms should be in theaters during a holiday season TBA.

Update: And then it is gonna be back to the books for the actress, who might star with Alexander Skarsgård in the adaptation of The Aftermath by Rhidian Brook.
