Indeed, not only is the legendary Barbra Streisand – read like you were singing it! – mounting a Catherine the Great biopic, girlfriend’s getting ready to play Momma Rose in a silver-screen revival of Gypsy.
Barry Levinson is set to direct from a script by Richard LaGravenese, which will have input from La Streisand.
I wonder who the powers that be will court for the roles of Momma Rose’s two vaudeville-stars-in-the-making daughters. The part of Gypsy Rose is going to require someone quite formidable.
