Batman to Do Batman

This was bound to happen, and I mean that in the bestest way.

Ben Affleck, the new Batman, is going to direct the new Batman movie.

Indeed, the Oscar-winning multi-hyphenate will helm a new stand-alone Caped Crusader adventure that he is co-writing with Geoff Johns, the chief creative officer at DC Comics (so...the DC Comicverse’s version of Marvel’s Kevin Feige?).

Before he suits up as Bruce Wayne and his crime-fighting alter ego, though, Affleck will finally call the shots on Live By Night, the adaptation of another Dennis Lehane novel. The actor, you will recall, popped his director cherry with Gone Baby Gone, and the novel upon which it was based was written by Lehane.

The new Batman movie will follow 20187’s proposed Justice League movie. But up first is next years Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, of course.
