A Queen By Another Actress

Queen Elizabeth II has been played by Helen Mirren quite indelibly – so it shall be a tall order for anyone else to ever do so, OKRRR.

In fact, Mirren’s Academy Award-winning turn as the monarch was was so definitive that she is actually getting ready to reprise the role on Broadway this winter, in Peter Morgan’s The Audience.

Speaking of which, Morgan himself is spoilin’ to revisit the queen, via a different a project, though: a $100 million Netflix series titled The Crown.

This time, though, it will be Claire Foy (Rosewater) who plays Elizabeth on the new option for binging, which will chronicle her reign from the second that she heard that her father, George VI, had died in 1952 to the present day.

Academy Award-nominated director Stephen Daldry is set to helm the 20-part drama, and at least two more actresses will be retained to play the queen across her six-decade rule.

And, maybe, just maybe, one might be Mirren.
