Come Undine

And for her next move, Scarlett Johansson is staying on trend.

The trend being doing a little TV – namely, a du-jour limited series. Which means a steadier gig with easier hours, especially for a new mom like the Lucy star.

Indeed, the actress has signed on to headline (and executive produce) The Custom of the Country, a new eight-ep period series based on the novel by Edith Wharton.

Johansson will play Midwestern girl-turned-wannabe New York City social Undine Spragg, one of literature’s most ruthless heroines.

The Custom of the Country is being envisioned as a cable situation, so keep your eyes peeled for it.
