The Cumber-stud has signed on to play a sergeant who mentors two soldiers played by Will Poulter (We’re the Millers) and Mud’s Tye Sheridan in the adaptation of Kevin Powers’ war-in-Iraq-set novel The Yellow Birds.
The actor also has joined the cast of Johnny Depp’s Scott Cooper-directed Black Mass (the story of real-life former Boston mob boss-turned-FBI informant Whitey Bulger), filling the role Whitey’s law-abiding brother, Billy, that Guy Pearce recently had to vacate due to scheduling conflicts.
