Ant-Man’s Got No Direction (For Now)

Marvel’s long-gestating Ant-Man movie is on hold. A little bit.

Because Edgar Wright has left the building.

Indeed, the studio and the Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World director put out a joint statement early yesterday – clever move, waiting until the start of the long Memorial Way weekend (very Nick and Jessica-ish, from back in that day) – announcing they were parting ways “due to differences in their vision of the film.

The decision, which the parties involved described as “amicable” – what is this, a conscious uncoupling? – is not expected to change Ant-Man’s July 17, 2015, release date.

The movie is, at last check, is still expected to star Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly, Patrick WilsonCorey Stoll, and Michael Peña (End of Watch), and a new helmer will be announced “shortly.
