Indeed, the Oscar winner is gonna make like Diddy and star in a revival of A Raisin in the Sun that’s set to open on the Great White Way next April (previews will begin on March 8).
Washington will share the stage with a back-on-Broadway-for-the-first-time-since-1983 Diahann Carroll and recent Tony winner Cicely Tyson (The Trip to Bountiful). He will play Walter in the story of a lower-middle-class black family from the ’50s that’s trying to figure out what to do with some inherited money.
Hotel Rwanda Oscar nominee Sophie Okonedo will play his wife, while Anika Noni Rose will portray his younger sister.
