That is exactly what the Oscar winner set out to do with his next film, the star-studded ensemble The Monuments Men, which is set during the final chapter of Hitler’s rule of Germany and centers on a crew of historians and museum curators that comes together to recover renown works of art before the Nazis can destroy them.
