Out of the Woods

Jake Gyllenhaal’s dreams of doing a musical will have to stay dreams just a little longer.

Why? Because hes not going Into the Woods anymore.

Aw, shucks!

My dear Jakey-bear (now that Adam Levine is engaged I am gunning for that one more than evah, yo) was thisclose to playing Rapunzel’s Prince in the big-screen adaptation of Stephen Sondheim’s musical that’s starring Meryl Streep and Johnny Depp.

But Gyllen-yum has decided that he wants to focus on Nightcrawler, an indie thriller about the mutant Alan Cumming played in X2: X-Men United a small-time L.A. criminal who gets swept up in the city’s night-dwelling crime journalism community.

Actually, Gyllenhaal wanted to do both movies, but the schedule couldn’t be worked out, so he went for the smaller one, which he is also producing.

Very honorable.

Hey, Jake – I’ll make you sing some time if ya want.
