Gone to Trash

Well...Rooney Mara’s career’s going to the dumps.

Literally, yet fictionally, of course.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Oscar nominee has signed on to star as an NGO worker in Trash, the adaptation of a young-adult novel about three homeless boys living in an anywhere-Third World country, not too long from now, who discover a mysterious, powerful little something in a heap of trash that they deem worth protecting, danger that comes with it be damned.

Stephen Daldry (The Hours) is directing from a script by Richard Curtis (War Horse).

The film – which will co-star Martin Sheen as a priest – will shoot in Rio de Janeiro next month.

Update: And on an semi-related note, check out the commercial for the new Calvin Klein fragrance, Downtownwhich was directed by David Fincher and stars Mara.
