The Boy from the Small Town and His Death

There is a new project in Hollywood called God’s Pocket that is combining my longtime love for silver foxes with my newfound appreciation for gingers.

John Slattery (AMC’s Mad Men) is making his feature-film directorial debut with it, and he has cast Caleb Landry Jones – whom you might remember as Jimmy Adler on TV’s Friday Night Lights – in a key role.

Academy Award winner Philip Seymour Hoffman, Richard Jenkins, and Slattery’s small-screen co-star Christina Hendricks are already on board the project, which will tell the story of the mysterious death of a small-town young man.

And, btw, although they might be going extinct in real life, redheads will live on at the movies. Jones, in particular, will: He also has nabbed a part as Elle Fanning’s love interest in Low Down, which revolves around a pianist drug addict’s (John Hawkes) struggle as seen from the POV of his daughter.

So the boy is on fire. (Sorry – I saw an opening.)
